Recharge - An Autumnal Alpine Traverse, Trip Journal 4   The last stand End of the second week at Passo di Giau. What a week it has been here and it was finished with one of my favourite images taken on the way up to the summit of Monte Cernera at the last evening hike with two funny Italian guys I met down at the parking lot. I've also photographed Monte Cernera some evenings ago while the moon was rising behind the summit cross, just to give you an idea of how tall the summit was!    OM-D EM 1.3 /  M.Zuiko 100-400 mm / 400 mm / F7.1 / ISO 200 / 1/400 sec     The way up is short and snappy and as a part of the Via Ferrata some passages of the way are secured by iron ropes. As a hiker I'm always wondering about the classification of levels of difficulty in the mountains. Mid way was the first secured passage which was a really easy and short part of 2-3 meters distance and in my opinion could have been mastered without rope. The second part a few meters up made us look after

Recharge - An Autumnal Alpine Traverse, Trip Journal 3   Hiking for the Best! Still here on Passo di Giau to leeway the missed time due to the bad weather conditions. But, fortunately, the weather has slowly changed to the better - although it's still pretty cold - and I'm finally able to get out regularly, biking and hiking this wonderful area.   OM-D EM 1.3 /  Lumix G 35-100 F2.8 / 100 mm / F2.8 / ISO 200 / 1/1250 sec   Due to food supply and replacing lost mountain gear, I lost my climbing helmet somewhere on the road, I had to visit Cortina d'Ampezzo for a little shoppig action. Who doesn't like shopping in its holidays, right? If you're staying in this area you definitely have to visit two small shops to provide yourself with local goods and fresh vegetables. Both shops are directly located to each other in the northern part of the town, parking could be a problem though in the main season, off season there is a hotel related parking lot to use...or just do it

Recharge - An Autumnal Alpine Traverse, Trip Journal 2   Bye Bye Hintersee…in just one moment After I camped several days near Lake Hintersee it was time to go ahead with my journey. BUT…not without checking the weather apps a last time, just to be sure not to miss sth spectacular. I use mainly three weather apps, Windy, Clear Outside and (now) Bergfex. While CO and BF will give you a nice overview on uncountable parameters in tabular form, W presents itself with an interactive weather map that shows you cloud-, rain-, wind movement and directions. Plus you can choose from different weather forecast models like ECMWF or ICON EU depending on the area you are located in the world. Combine those apps with Photopills and you have a mighty setup for carefully planning your photographic encounters. The forecast of the last morning showed some really promising parameters. A band of middle layered clouds just over the area of lake Hintersee at the time of sunrise. No Clouds in the
